In short, that means NO TITLE PAGES. Use DOUBLE-SPACED lines, one inch margins, and a serif typeface like Courier or Times New Roman with page numbers. Please include an accurate (versus estimated) word count and your contact information (mailing address and PayPal) on the manuscript, so if we decide to buy your manuscript we can mail you a contract and pay you. Please do not summarize your story in the cover letter. We consider story lengths from flash up to 25,000 words. We do not consider reprints, simultaneous, or multiple submissions. Please note that there is a 21-day cool down period between submissions. Take that time to create and polish your new work and send your best.
When you submit, please DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. If you send an incorrect address, all correspondence will bounce and we will have no way of reaching you regarding your submission. You should receive a confirmation email with a tracking number and link to let you see your story's progress in the submission queue. Our current median response time is under 15 days, but we take longer on stories that make our second read queue. Please wait 90 days before querying about the status of your story. Please do not email requesting additional feedback if you did not receive it in your original letter. Additional tips for writers are on our Moksha Submission Guidelines page. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, but note there is no need to send a thank you for receiving a pass letter. The best tip is to read the magazine, and write memorable stories with distinctive characters that offer your unique take, especially if you are writing about common tropes and traditions in the field. Thanks!
